Background on Plant Pathogen

A plant pathogen is a broad term that refers to any of the organisms, including fungi, bacteria, nematodes and viruses. These biological organisms can cause disease symptoms, significantly reduce plant yield and quality, and even cause plant death. Pathogens can be introduced and spread to host plants in a variety of ways. Bacteria and fungal spores can be transferred by wind and rain, and can also be transferred from the soil to plant tissues by rain. When insects feed on infected host plants, and then feed and eat on uninfected plants, they can act as vectors for pathogens to infect plants. Pathogens can also be spread through infected seeds, transplanted or contaminated equipment, irrigation water, and humans. Plant diseases cause heavy economic losses to farmers all over the world. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations estimates that about 25% of crop losses are caused by pests and diseases. Therefore, the control of plant diseases is crucial to food production, and it brings major problems in the use of land, water, fuel and other inputs in agriculture.

Plant Pathogen Test Kits

Plant pathogen test kits are important tools for detecting pathogens in plants (fungi, bacteria, nematodes and viruses), as well as an important guarantee for increasing the economic and health output of humans and animals. Plant pathogen test kits are specially designed for the detection of plant pathogens. They are for research use only and cannot be used for in vitro diagnosis. According to different plant pathogens, plant pathogen test kits are divided into the following categories:

  • Plant bacteria test kits: detection of erwinia amylovora, candidatus liberibacter, candidatus liberibacter solanacearum, xylella fastidiosa, etc.
  • Plant fungi test kits: detection of aspergillus niger, botrytis cinerea, cladosporium cladosporioides, phomopsis viticola, etc.
  • Plant virus/viroid test kits: detection of chrysanthemum chlorotic mottle viroid (CChMVd), chrysanthemum stunt viroid (CSVd), plum pox virus (PPV), grapevine red blotchvirus (GRBV), etc.

Advantages of Our Plant Pathogen Test Kits

  • A variety of plant pathogen detection technologies (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), direct tissue blot immunoassays (DTBIA), DNA-based techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR), real time PCR (RTPCR) and dot blot hybridization, hyperspectral imaging technology, biosensor, fluorescent probeetc, etc.) were adopted to develop test kits.
  • Providing detection products for up to 150 plant pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi and viroids. The detection operation is simple, and it can detect a single pathogen or multiple pathogens at the same time.
  • The detection sensitivity is high, and it is specially used to detect plant pathogens. It is for research use only and cannot be used for in vitro diagnosis.
